Pastoral Care
St. Leonard's Church is with you throughout the rhythm of life and can be there in times of joy as well as the times of hardship and loss. We have a Pastoral and Prayer Group that looks out for the community offering prayer and support. If you would like a listening ear or have a concern on your heart then please contact the St. Leonard's Listeners or speak to a member of the Ministry Team.
Reasons for contacting the team may include:
- Wanting to chat with someone – if we are struggling (emotional well-being and mental health are as important to us as physical health).
- Needing practical help – members are limited in what they can directly offer but we can sometimes signpost people to charitable funding and have contacts with the local food bank.
- Requesting a visit to an elderly or infirm person who can’t make it to church.
- Notifying us of someone who is in hospital (so we can alert hospital chaplaincy).
- Looking for ongoing support (we can signpost people to counselling including bereavement support).
- Requesting prayer – either privately or for names to be included in our Sunday service prayers.
Baptisms
Baptism (Christening) services can be arranged by appointment. We love to welcome people into the fellowship of the church so if either you or a family member would like to be baptised then please come and talk to us!
Weddings
We would be delighted to talk to you about being married in church. It may be much easier than you think to get married in church so please come along and talk to us as to how we can make such a special and memorable day.
Funerals
Initial arrangements for funerals are usually made with a Funeral Director. Through contact with the next of kin and their family, we will tailor the service that best befits the life and passing of the loved one. We offer continued support and prayer to those bereaved after the funeral, especially with our Service of Memories - remembering those who we have loved and lost.
